Good morning, Lancaster. Summer gets one more day out of us. It is 86 today and 63 by Sunday, and two dozen places downtown are staying open late tonight to see it off.
In today's Lancaster Ledger:
• Two dozen stops downtown for First Friday
Let's do it.

SPONSORED BY LANCASTER KIDPRENEUR DAY

Lancaster Kidpreneur Day is a week from tomorrow, Saturday October 10, 10 AM to 1 PM at Binns Park, presented by Shirk Pest Solutions, with JK Mechanical, Hinkle Insurance Agency, fix (IT) chix and Signarama. Kids ages 6 to 14 get a 10x10 space, bring something they made or baked or grew, set their own prices, and keep every dollar of it. Local business owners walk the fair, judge the booths and hand out cash prizes by age group.
It is free to come watch, and a good hour to spend with your own kids whether or not they are selling anything.
THE DIGEST
First Friday has 24 stops tonight, and one of them is a horror movie 🎃
October's First Friday runs across two dozen venues in the city tonight, and the galleries are only part of it. Binns Park becomes a salsa and bachata floor from 6 to 8:30, with instruction for anyone who turns up not knowing how. Ewell Plaza fills with craft vendors, food trucks and live music from 5. The Lancaster Science Factory opens its 70-odd exhibits free from 5 to 7, themed this month on manufacturing, and the Lancaster Art Vault debuts four new shows at once.
It gets stranger as the night goes on. Sarah Hawkins will be painting live in the alley beside Vine Bar while people drink Italian wine around her. Organist Larry Hershey plays Bach and Gounod's "Funeral March of a Marionette" at First Reformed at 8. And Zoetropolis closes it out at 9 with "Trick 'r Treat," the 2007 horror anthology, which is about as on brand for the first Friday in October as it gets.
If you have kids you would rather not bring, Tiny Town is running a drop-off night with food and crafts for ages 3 to 10. One thing to know before you plan a route: Urban Arts House is dark this month, owners on vacation.

LANCASTER LEDGER IS POWERED BY. . .

Meet the presenting sponsor of Kidpreneur Day!
Jordan Shirk started Shirk Pest Solutions after a summer job in the industry turned into an Environmental Science degree and a problem he could not unsee: technicians handed a truck full of pesticides and sent out with almost no training. He and his wife Chloe own the company together, he does the technician work and she runs the admin side, and they handle ticks and mosquitoes, quarterly prevention, rodents, termites and bed bugs for homes and businesses across Lancaster County.
They are the presenting sponsor of Lancaster Kidpreneur Day on Saturday, October 10 at Binns Park. Shirk Pest Solutions will have a booth at the fair, and their kid will have one too, Bead Besties.
