TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Lancaster. People from here keep showing up and doing things at the national level. Boxers in Tulsa. A rock band on Billboard. It's been that kind of week. We're proud as heck.

In today's Lancaster Ledger:

• A Lancaster band just hit #1 on Billboard

• Our boxers are tearing through the National Golden Gloves

• Pequea Valley just approved a $27.6M construction project

Let's do it.

The boxers we wrote about Wednesday have started winning 🥊

Lancaster's Jasiah "Monster" Ortiz dropped his Oklahoma City opponent twice in the first 30 seconds of his Tuesday opener and took the bout by unanimous decision. He followed up Wednesday by beating Texas's Jose Vasquez 4-1 to advance to Friday's semifinals against Nieem Somerville of Washington, D.C. Jerimiah "Drip" Munoz pulled the bigger upset — a 3-2 split decision over Brody Ledoux, the No. 8 elite open at 132 pounds. Munoz fights his quarterfinal Thursday. Team Pennsylvania went 3-0 in their opening night.

Ortiz, after his Tuesday win: "I knew I had it before the fight started, 'cause I know who I am." The tournament is livestreamed at parkwayvideo.com.
